Valuation
Project earnings forward and see what return today's price implies.
Seeded from BTO's reported EPS growth of -1.3% a year over 13 years.
- EPS in 5 years
- $3.31
- Implied price
- $33.09
- Return from $39.62
- -3.5% a year
To earn 15.0% a year on these assumptions you'd need to buy at $16.45 — -58.5% below today's price.
How sensitive is that answer?
Annual return across nearby assumptions. If the result is only attractive in one corner, that is the finding.
| growth \ P/E | 6 | 8 | 10 | 12 | 14 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| -11.3% | -21.7% | -17.1% | -13.3% | -10.1% | -7.3% |
| -6.3% | -17.3% | -12.4% | -8.4% | -5.0% | -2.0% |
| -1.3% | -12.9% | -7.7% | -3.5% | 0.0% | 3.2% |
| 3.7% | -8.5% | -3.1% | 1.3% | 5.1% | 8.4% |
| 8.7% | -4.1% | 1.6% | 6.2% | 10.2% | 13.6% |
This is arithmetic on assumptions you chose, not a forecast or a recommendation. It ignores dividends, buybacks, share issuance and debt, and it assumes a company still earning money in 5 years. Change any input and the answer changes a lot — that sensitivity is the honest result, not a flaw in the model.

BTO: The Bull Case Remains Intact After a ~35% run since my June 2025 Buy, I went looking for reasons to downgrade BTO and couldn't find one that holds. BTO's leverage and active tilt clear its 2.42% fee to match KRE net, while paying a ~6% distribution KRE can't. The regionals' lead is earnings-driven, not multiple expansion - so credit stays clean, and higher-for-longer helps these asset-sensitive banks rather than hurting them.

56 further Form 4 entries are share awards, option exercises or shares withheld for tax. Those are compensation, not trades, so they are excluded above. Buying is the stronger signal: an insider spends their own money for one reason. Selling has many innocent explanations — tax, diversifying, a house — so it says far less than it appears to.
