…Goldman's cash desk said it was the lowest-volume session of the year, which tends to amplify every move. Tellingly, Goldman's derivatives desk saw clients reach for HYG downside, buying 50k Jan 77/73 put spreads, with the bond market closed. Even the gamblers, it seems, are hedging the credit. Bottom Line JPMorgan's Market Intel team is sticking with its "Tactically Bullish" call into earnings, arguing semis can climb this latest wall of worry. Maybe. But when the CEO whose company is financing…

HYG Handed a $300,000 Holder $18,255 of Taxable Income and $5,550 of Actual Gain Holding a high-yield bond ETF in a taxable account can leave you owing the IRS far more than you actually earned, and most investors never notice until they see the 1099.

…energy to the Treasury Department and his network and credibility could shift the narrative. CDX moved a tad tighter on the week (also reflected in IG bond spreads). HYG and JNK inched higher (good for credit) as well. I’m not seeing any real reason to be materially concerned about credit, except there does seem to be decreasing excitement (if not appetite) to fund another chip or data center deal. It makes perfect sense for credit to do a bit better if European sovereign debt is stabilizing, bu…

…s me believe I can wait until Monday or Tuesday to do a deeper dive into credit (this weekend is too nice in the metro area to be stuck inside typing), was that both HYG and JNK (two large HY ETFS) were trading at NAV. Any time the credit ETFs trade at a discount to NAV, is a danger signal in my book. It means there are market dislocations, and trading at a discount tends to create more selling. That might seem counterintuitive, but we’ve explained the ETF Death Spiral™ in detail, and it continu…

… breadth compare RSP to SPY, and if RSP is breaking down you're losing breadth. So trend, distance from moving averages ,how much above or below it is. Credit, use HYG and look at 20 day momentum of it,and breadth compare RSP to SPY if both RSP and SPY are breaking down it's bad. If you combine those three signals they're very accurate.

HYG vs JNK: The Two Biggest Junk Bond ETFs Look Identical, but the Cheaper One Pays More HYG and JNK hold many of the same junk bonds, pay on the same schedule, and dominate the same corner of the credit market, yet one of them quietly hands income investors a meaningfully better deal every single month.

These 3 High-Yield ETFs Cost You Thousands If You Hold Them in the Wrong Account The yield on the fact sheet and the yield that clears into your account are two very different numbers, and the gap between them comes down to one decision most investors make without thinking twice.
